ABOUT TOM DUNCAN
Tom was raised in the small West Texas town of Fort Davis where his family ranched and taught school. He left for the Navy at the age of nineteen and spent eight years as a nuclear power plant operator and instructor, ultimately helping commission the USS Omaha (SSN692), a Los Angeles class, fast attack submarine.

Tom returned to his roots in 1978 to finish his undergraduate degree in Geology at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. While at Sul Ross he was on the National Dean’s List. Within two weeks of obtaining his bachelor’s degree in late 1980, he went to work as a development geologist for Texaco in Midland, Texas. During his 21 year career with Texaco, Tom worked in Midland, Denver, New York, and Houston, and has traveled to 22 countries for his job as an Exploration Manager. While in Denver in 1992, he obtained an MBA from Colorado State University.

When Texaco and Chevron merged in 2002, Tom decided to try new things and spent 8 years in the Acquisitions and Divestitures business, working in Houston for Macquarie and other investment banks. Tom eventually decided to return to the upstream oil and gas business and worked for Quicksilver Resources and Finley Resources until 2016, when he retired from day to day office work.

Over his 35 year career in the oil business, Tom managed many domestic and international projects, working with and supervising geologists, geophysicists, engineers and landmen. He has years of experience with geology, engineering, risk analysis, operations, drilling and completions, financial and cash flow analyses, and acquisitions and divestitures.
Most recently, he has been helping ranchers and land owners understand the oil and gas business and assisting in assessing asset value. Tom is carrying on a legacy. His grandfather was a rancher and liaison between land owners and oil and gas companies. Tom enjoys helping others and plans to continue doing the same.
